About the Butterfly Academy

At The Butterfly Academy, we take pride in our deep experience and passion for early childhood Spanish immersion. As a Spanish immersion daycare and preschool in Helotes, Texas, our classrooms are intentionally designed to nurture language and literacy development in a warm, engaging environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn. From cozy reading corners and dramatic play spaces to calming areas and thematic learning units, every detail is thoughtfully chosen to encourage communication, exploration, and academic growth.

Throughout the year, we celebrate Hispanic culture with immersive experiences that honor language, traditions, and community. Cultural activities, music, and art are woven into the daily routine, while dishes like fideo and arroz con leche help connect children to the rich culinary traditions of the Spanish-speaking world. This culturally rich environment supports not only bilingual language development, but also a strong sense of belonging, confidence, and appreciation for diversity.

Our Philosophy

We believe that young children learn best when engaged in rich, hands-on activities that stimulate their senses, spark creativity, and nurture their natural curiosity about the world. By fostering an early and deep connection with language, we help lay the foundation for lifelong learning, emotional well-being, and confident growth. Our commitment is to guide each child with care, intention, and expertise—empowering them to spread their wings and soar.

Our Mission

At the Butterfly Academy, we are dedicated to nurturing young minds in a safe and culturally immersive environment where children develop biliteracy through play, exploration, and meaningful experiences.

Meet the Directors

Isai Garza has always known her calling was working with children. Her journey began in ministry, where she led preschool classes for over five years, building a strong foundation in early childhood care and leadership. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish from The University of Texas at San Antonio and earned her EC-6 Bilingual Certification.

With years of experience teaching Pre-K and Kindergarten in dual language classrooms, Isai brings both expertise and heart to early childhood education. As Co-Director of The Butterfly Academy, she oversees daily operations, staff leadership, licensing compliance, parent communication, and the CACFP food program.

As a mother raising three bilingual daughters, Isai understands the importance of language, love, and intentional care in a child’s early years. Her goal is to create a warm, organized environment where children feel safe, supported, and excited to learn.

Working with children has always been at the heart of Debora Valdez’s journey. From a young age, she was actively involved in her church’s children’s and youth ministries, devoting countless summers to planning and leading Vacation Bible School. These early experiences ignited a deep love for nurturing young minds and inspired her to pursue a career in education.

Debora holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University–San Antonio and brings over a decade of experience in early childhood and dual language instruction. As a bilingual educator, she has led early childhood classrooms with a strong focus on second language acquisition, learning through play, and developmentally appropriate practices.

As a mother of three, Debora deeply understands the importance of the early years. Watching her own children grow and discover the world has been her greatest inspiration. Together with her husband, they have lovingly raised their children in a bilingual home and have experienced firsthand the powerful impact of Spanish immersion. That conviction has shaped her vision for The Butterfly Academy, a warm, nurturing space where every child is celebrated, supported, and given the opportunity to thrive.
